General Photography FAQ’s
I have received my CD from our photo shoot; can you recommend where to print them?
When will you take photographs from and to?
I enjoy documenting the whole day which usually includes shots of the bride getting ready up to the first dance providing this is no later than 9pm. If you have any special timing requirements please let me know.
Can we have more than one photographer?
I always bring an assistant with me however this is to ensure I can achieve the best images, I am the only qualified photographer. My assistant can provide additional photography of guests in the evening if the numbers are very large.
What is an unlimited licence and why don’t you sell full copyright?
Currently I provide a creative commons licence with my CDs of images. This allows you to make prints for personal use, and use online as long as credit is given to the original photographer; but not to sell or commercial use. The full legal information is available here. I do not sell full copyright because, as a professional photographer, I want to be able to use my images to gain qualifications and for online examples. Please let me know if you would not like your images to be used.
There’s a particular album we’ve seen in a wedding magazine, can we have that?
Absolutely, I am happy to investigate any printing options so let me know the name/brand of the album and I will get back to you with some costs. The album range that I find most beautiful and durable is the Bellissimo collection printed by Loxley colour and my prices for these albums start at £200.
How much input do we get in our wedding album design?
As much or as little as you want! When I send you the final disc of images, and we have chosen an album, I will ask you to pick your favourite images. At this point you can specify which ones you’d like as backgrounds, full pages and front and back covers or you can leave me to create a first example design and we can build from there. I will email you images of every page design as it will be printed for you to approve before sending to print. Once sent, albums can take up to 4 weeks to print but it is usually much faster.
Will your studio fit in our home?
My background needs to stand against a wall approximately 2 metres in length and then the lights need to be placed at least 2 metres in front. This set up fits most living or dining areas providing we can move some furniture around.
Do you have a choice of backgrounds?
To do full length and group portraits I can offer black and cream backgrounds. I also have a white paper background for creating crisp profile portraits. As you will see from my examples my preference is black as I feel it creates the most striking images. If you want the fashionable bright white studio portraits this cannot be achieved using the home studio kit but please contact me to discuss hiring a studio space.
Yes, I am happy to include animals in a group portrait session both outside and inside. I can also do individual pet portraits providing the animal can be kept relatively still!
I will always tidy images providing it doesn’t stop the image looking real so spots and blemishes, fluff on clothing etc but I do provide slimming or youthful enhancements. Some effects that I do use, like high contrast and traditional black and white, can be more flattering than standard colour.
I have received my CD from our photo shoot; can you recommend where to print them?
Yes, the digital printers I recommend are Photobox. Their website makes it very easy for you to upload the images from the CD, select the prints you want to order or quickly design photobooks. They let you know if the quality of the image is good enough for what you are ordering (my standard discs print best up to 6 x 4 inches). I also recommend that you select Matt paper rather than Glossy as it is a much nicer finish.
